Bethel Worship Centre was founded in 2004, by few members from a local based Baptist Church and New Life in Jesus Ministries. Our first service was held on the 7th of November 2004 in a hired hall at Tukakgomo, Diporwanang.
On the 8th of February, 2007, Bethel was registered under the National Register of Independent Churches. In the same year of 2007, Bethel moved to its new official home, the current church site on the Mapodile Road, in Tukakgome, Steelpoort, Limpopo Province, South Africa.
The naming of the church was inspired from the Old Testament, in the book of Genesis 28:19 to 22, which is an account of the story of Jacob when he was running away from his brother Essau. Jacob came to rest in a place then called Luz and used a stone for a pillow, in his dreams Jacob saw the stairway to heaven and angels ascending and descending to and from heaven. When he woke up, he said surely this place is awesome and must be the gateway to heaven. Jacob took the same stone and anointed it with oil and named the place Bethel, which means “The House of the Lord.’’
Bethel is rooted on a foundation of discipleship, thus we have fully functional leadership structure comprised of our Senior Pastor Bishop D.J Skhonde and a number of other Pastors.
Our current church building was dedicated and officially opened by Rev. B.J Lesenya on the 11th of October 2014.
Calling all souls unto a Jesus like heart, to attain a Jesus like ministry.
In short, we aspire to gather hearts to a heart for ministry. We believe as Bethel that the regeneration of all hearts is only found in one heart, the heart of the Lord Jesus Christ. Therefore as a church that is zealous and existing to win souls, we believe that souls can only be transformed when hearts are brought to the Lord Jesus Christ and are changed to the likeness of his heart.
When we attain hearts like the heart of Jesus, it will then become easy to do ministry, because as the regeneration of our hearts takes effect, the whole character of a man changes. Bethel therefore exists to call souls unto a Jesus like heart to attain a Jesus like ministry.
Spiritual Growth through fellowship, divine relationship and discipleship.
Much as we look forward to calling souls into our vision, our mission is the how part to calling these souls. Bethel believes that the first most important step of doing ministry is Evangelism with an expectation that when souls come to Jesus, we will discipleship them into spiritual growth. As members growth, the church thus becomes a living church and become a fertile ground to birth fellowship.
We foster fellowship because we believe that no member can exist as an individual and strive in solitude. Therefore we always encourage spiritual growth and establishing fellowship with the family of believers in order to stand together, love one another and know that we have a God given assignment to serve together.
The above is achieved through establishing a divine relationship, a relationship where all members of the church including visitors become brothers and sisters. We then learn to serve God as a family united in love and fellowship, through this divine relationship. This is our winning strategy, this is how we strive to see ourselves while winning souls.
Things that we as Bethel believe, focus on and strive to achieve as we serve together as a church:
We all understand that all true doctrine is based on the Bible. We value the absolute Word of God, in that all truth needed for preaching, teaching and whatever other purposes for the church must be based in the Bible. The Bible is our foundation, our guideline and a point of reference in whatever we do as Bethel.

We know that in reading the Bible we need the Holy Spirit to release this absolute truth. Thus we believe in the Holy Spirit as a person and we know that as a church as we serve, we need to be helped by the Holy Spirit as directed by our Lord Jesus Christ when he said to His Disciples that, “I will send you a Comforter, a Helper who will be with you always.”
For this reason, we value the Holy Spirit, we believe as Bethel, that we cannot exist, operate or do anything without the help of the Holy Spirit.

We believe that prayer is one way that gives us directed contact with God, thus we encourage the church to be prayerful when we meet together for fellowship and also when we part to our respective places.

We believe that as regenerated Born Again Christians, holiness is a critical component, because the Bible says, “without holiness, it is impossible to see God.” We do not only want to serve God while here on earth, but we look forward to meet our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.
We regard holiness as key.

Jesus in the book of John says, “I am the way, the truth and the Life, and that no one can come to the Father apart from me ”.
Therefore, we value Truth and believe that as we speak the Word of God and live our day to day lives, that the Truth must be found in us, in our teachings and leading our day to day. It must be our foundation and everything found in it.
We aspired to teach the church to live in Truth.

We teach and encourage love, because Love started in and with God and when he sent His only Son to die for humanity.

We know that everything fails in the absence of respect. We believe that as a church and individual parts or members that makes up Bethel, we need to respect one another, irrespective of position and status.
